You get a transcript with timestamps that you can edit. Search it, fix a word, then copy the text or download it as TXT. The same transcript also saves as SRT or VTT subtitles.

Speech in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian or Russian works best. Pick it from the Spoken language menu, or leave Auto-detect on. The converter runs on a laptop or desktop, and you need a free Shorteefy account to start.

Convert video to text

The same tool converts video to text. Choose an MP4, MOV or WebM file. Your browser takes the speech from the video and transcribes it on your computer, so the video is never uploaded.

Along with the text you get subtitles timed to the video. Download the SRT file, then burn the subtitles into your video with our free caption burner. You choose the caption style there.

Is your video longer than 30 minutes? Cut it into parts with the free video trimmer, then convert each part to text one after the other.

Read the transcript once before you publish it. Names and rare words are the usual places to fix, and you can correct them right in the editor before you download.
